POST RIDE NOTES -
This 4-Oct-2026 ride was a much better experience compared to previous Hansville rides over the last 3 or 4 years. Traffic was calm much of the ride. The left turn on SR 104 (mile 12.5) was not the "death wish" it has been in recent rides. Much of Hansville Road NE was calm. Only, as we neared the intersection of Highway 104 did the traffic increase. But, it was manageable.
Why? This ride was different for at least 2 reasons -
Let's confirm this route in 2027.
Kingston, Indianola, Hansville Loop
Edmonds Ferry
We should be leaving early enough to have breakfast at the small grocery store and café in Hansville ( at mile 25.5). Just in case the cafe is not open, it is suggested we bring food to power us back to Kingston.
For those driving to the ferry, areas around the Edmonds ferry, waterfront and downtown core have time limited parking restrictions. Park outside this zone. Dayton and Main east of 6th Ave should be good. Look for parking signs.
NOTE: Ever since COGS became aware of the Fast Ferry, we have tried and tried to start from the Fast Ferry in Seattle. But, every time the roads have been full of cars. It is now my opinion that it is because the fast ferry starts to late in the day and we do not get the ride started early enough to miss the bulk of the traffic. But, before I give up on the Hansville ride... because it is a really nice route... I want to give it one more chance. Hope you can join me.
