Actually there is a ride next Wednesday, July 4! This is our annual Gary Strauss commemorative ride. This year it starts and ends at Leschi. We will meet at the Starbucks (actually the closed garage entrance next door) and we will finish at the Bluwater Bistro in Leschi, where food and drinks await us (on your own dime of course).
No GPS route mapped unless someone can walk me through setting one up (yes, maybe again). We will stay together and ride clockwise from Leschi and check out the new Arboretum trail on the way. We will go through the UW stadium parking lots and join the Burke Gilman trail at Union Bay Place NE (NE corner of U Village). Then Burke Gilman to our water and rest room stop at Log Boom Park.
After our break we head to, up and over Juanita Drive, through Juanita Bay Park (not Juanita Beach park) and then bypass downtown Kirkland because it will likely still be blocked off for the parade, but we will see some floats en route.
From Kirkland we take the 520 bike trail to the last exit before the bridge. Anyone who wants to shortcut the ride can continue on the bridge back to the Montlake interchange. The rest will ride along Evergreen Point Road to our next water and RR stop at the Medina Beach Park (and police station).
Thence along Overlake Drive, around Groat Point, south on Lake Washington Blvd, SW Bellevue, Beaux Arts, and the I-90 bridge. At that point we decide whether to head west across the bridge (about 6 miles more) or continue around the lake (about 20 miles) to the Bluwater Bistro.
