3 Day Sequim Weekend - Hurricane Ridge

This is a 3 day weekend centered around our annual Hurricane Ridge ride out of Sequim. Peter Krippner will camp out of the Dungeness Recreation Area and lead a Friday warm up ride in the Sequim area, then the day following Hurricane Ridge he will lead a cool down ride in the Port Angeles area.

Thursday Aug 15:   This is the arrival day only, no other plans. For those camping I will be at campsite 45 at Dungeness Recreation Area. I have room for 5 more, please contact me directly so I can confirm there is room for you. Other sites may be available by reservation or they have 30 sites for first come first served basis. Many other lodging options are available nearby in Sequim or Port Angeles. 

Day 1, Friday Aug 16: Sequim - Spit Loop ride   We will depart at 10 AM from the campground for a moderate ride with a lunch stop in Sequim before completing the loop back to the campground. Afternoon or evening can be spent checking out Dungeness Spit. There is a 10 mile hike going out and back.

 Day 2, Saturday Aug 17: COGS Hurricane Ridge ride   We will join Richard Petters on his Hurricane Ridge ride. There are 3 options to join the ride: 1) drive to the start at Sequim High School for the full 73 mile 8100' route or cycle to the high school and cutoff to the campground on the way back to add 11 miles to the COGS route. 2) Cycle directly from the campground to Olympic Visitors Center in Port Angeles to meet group either along the way or at the visitors center. 67 mile 7240' route. 3) Drive to the visitors center in Port Angeles for a 35 mile out and back route (no map or cue sheets needed for this)  

 Day 3, Sunday Aug 18: Port Angeles - Lake Crescent - Joyce Loop   We will drive to Port Angeles to meetup at Lincoln Park for a 9 AM departure. This will be a moderate/upper moderate ride. We will only have snack breaks and no lunch stop. Lunch will be available in Port Angeles after the ride.

 CAMPING INFORMATION: At Dungeness Recreation Area I will be at site 45 and have room for 5. Please email me directly at pkrippner@comcast.net for camping and I will confirm with you if space is still available. The cost of $88 for 3 nights will be split between the number of people at the site (max 6 allowed per site).     

 

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
