Bike, Boat and Trains for a Century

This Sunday, July 14, join us for a loop around the south end of the sound.  Ride from Gasworks to UW’s light rail station.  Depart train at Angle Lake, head towards Tacoma, Point Defiance, Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Gig Harbor (lunch), then continue north to catch the Southworth ferry back to Seattle.

  • ·        Meet and be ready to leave Gasworks Park by 8:30 AM Sunday morning.  Ron will be meeting the group at Gasworks before heading to UW’s light rail station.
  • ·        For those wanting to meet the train at another location along its route south, send your mobile number to Ron.  He will respond the morning of the ride as to which train they have boarded.  Richard will be boarding the train in SODO.
  • ·        Pace: moderate to brisk.  Ron will be leading the faster group, Richard the others.
  • ·        Route: Approximately 100 miles inclusive of train and ferry, about 80 miles of actual riding, See attached pdf.  GPS download at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30530476    (This is an updated version posted on July 13.  This update uses Des Moines Creek Trail.  If you downloaded anything prior to July 13, please update.) 
  • ·        Participants are expected to be self-supporting with spare tubes, pump, water, snacks, and capable of fixing their own flats.  Helmets are required on COGS rides.  Use of flashers, visual enhancers and rear view mirrors is encouraged.  Weather conditions may change, be prepared. In addition, please also bring safe riding skills and good road manners.  Thank you.

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
