CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 Wallace Lake Gravel Ride

  • 04 Apr 2020
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Sky Valley Lions Community Park, Startup WA

COGS BOARD HAS CANCELLED ALL APRIL RIDES per social distancing directives.

Ride Leader: John Lindseth

Pace: Moderate to High Moderate fat tire pace ride

Terrain: challenging 27.7 miles and 3322 feet of climbing with mixed trail and paved road sections.

I recommend 32 + mm mixed trail-gravel tires.

Route:    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29603728

Rain policy: Heavy rain forecast cancels ride

Join us on a fun ride mostly on gravel.  The gravel roads are in various conditions. The worst part is near the start with big chunky rock down by a swampy area but soon improves. Most of the area has been clear cut so we have spectacular views all the way to the Olympic mountains in the West and the local Cascades to the East. We will take a short break at the end of Wallace Lake where there is a beach and logs to sit on and have a snack. The loop off of Kellogg Lake road travels upon the top of a ridge and in my opinion is the best riding of the day. You may be tired but don't skip this section. The ride ends with a fun fast downhill back to town.

Bring food and water for the entire route. Spare tube and tire fixings are essential.

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
