 Notes

This is a weekend hub n spoke opportunity for the Bellingham area. Due to continued COVID concerns registration will be limited to 15 to accommodate social distance riding. Please do not show up for this weekend without being registered for it. Make sure you bring a mask to wear and have it on for the ride meetups, times when we are less than 6 ft apart, and when entering any public facility or establishment. For camping Larabee State Park is nearby. All rides will begin and end from Boulevard Park in Bellingham. I have selected 3 of my favorite bike routes to lead in the Bellingham area. Please note the description of the type of ride for each day as each one is a little different from each other. For dinner each night I am selecting a local brewery or pub to dine at and hope you can join me. We will need to dine with social distancing in mind. These are suggested places and may change per the group's wishes and whether they are open for dining at this time. Make sure you are self-sufficient with the proper tools and spare tubes. Be prepared for all weather conditions as can occur in early October. We will not be riding as a group as we normally do. It is expected that we will stagger our start times and be further spread out on these rides. We may split into smaller groups to manage this and try to still be in sight of each other with occasional regroups.

Friday Oct 2: Chuckanut-Colony Rd Loop. Depart at 10:00 AM from Boulevard Park. This will be a moderate - high moderate pace with no gravel sections. If you park at Boulevard Park go to the far north end. If possible ride to the start location from your lodging. This will include a stop at Breadfarm Bakery (cash only/take-out only).    Dinner location: Chuckanut Brewery, 601 W Holly St. (closes at 8:00 PM).

Saturday Oct 3: Bellingham Trail Loop. Depart at 10:00 AM from Boulevard Park. This ride will make use of the Bellingham trail system as much as possible. Most trails are in good condition with compact gravel. Suggest at least 28 wide tires while 32+ is ideal. The mileage may not seem like much but we will ride at a steady pace, probably 12 mph and include a number of stops. We have all day so there is no need to hurry. We will be off-road most of the ride with connections through quiet neighborhoods. 12.5 miles of paved roads, 19 miles of trails.     Dinner location: Twin Sisters Brewery, 500 Carolina St. (Closes at 9:00 PM). Has indoors and outdoor beer garden.

Sunday Oct 4: Friday Creek. Depart at 9:00 AM. I am doing an earlier departure for those who want to get home at a decent time on Sunday afternoon/evening. This is mostly a road ride with a 1.2 mile section on a gravel road in decent condition. Same tires suggested as on yesterday's ride.   Meal location after the ride:   Schweinhaus Biergarten (if weather is good, it's all outdoor seating). Plenty of options exist if we want to be indoors instead.

Optional Day Monday Oct 5: PROB'HAM Ride. If you are able to stay and join for one more hilly ride please come for a great route circumnavigating the city limits of Bellingham.

Please download the routes to your devices or print out your own cue sheets. If you have further questions on this event or better suggestions for dinner please contact me at 206-271-1470. Final updates on the routes and dinner locations will be made through Sep 21 so you should download your routes anytime after Sept 21.

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
