Start Location Snohomish Public Library parking lot
 Check in Time  9:45
 Departure Time  10:00

A second attempt at a ride originally posted for Aug 26 but canceled do to higher than expected air quality readings.  Perhaps this time around we will get some fall colors instead of bad air.

Ride and safety brief will commence at 9:45 AM at the Snohomish Public Library parking lot, 311 Maple Ave, Snohomish, WA.  Please park away from the entrance to the library.

Leaving Snohomish the route heads north on the Centennial Trail to Machias.  From there we use the back roads of South Machias, Schwarzmiller, and Burn to arrive into the east side of Arlington.  The return route will follow the Centennial Trail from Arlington back to Snohomish.

Bathroom and water stops in Machias.  Outbound that will be at mile 5, on the return at mile 41.  Lunch stop someplace in Arlington at mile 24.5.   Afterwards there is the option of heading further north on the Centennial to the Nakashima Heritage Barn before heading south.  Doing so adds about 16 miles to the ride.

  • Participants are expected to be self-supporting with spare tubes, pump, water, snacks, and capable of fixing their own flats.  Helmets are required on COGS rides.  Use of flashers, visual enhancers and rear view mirrors is encouraged.  Weather conditions can and will change, be prepared. In addition, please also bring safe riding skills and good road manners.  Thank you.
  • Participants are also expected to have their own navigation tools.  While attempts will be made to keep the group together, should you become lost you must be able to find your way back to the route or back to the start.
  • Cancellation notice for rain, smoke, fire, ice, insurrection or hangover will be sent out no later than 7 AM the morning of the ride.

COGS rides are now open to both members and non-members. Non-members are limited to one “free” ride with the club, after which COGS’ insurance requires they become a member. All persons must register. The number of persons allowed on a ride is left to the discretion of the ride leader.

COVID remains a public health concern and COGS will continue to follow state and county health guidelines. Regardless of vaccine status, all participants should be free of COVID or flu-like symptoms before participating in any rides, tours, and social events.

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
