The bike riding starts at the Angle Lake Light Rail station but we will meet just outside the UW Light Rail station and take the train together.  We will meet at 08:40 at the upper entrance to the elevator (across the skywalk from the Montlake Triangle meeting place) to make sure we have time to get downstairs with our bikes and get on the 09:00 train.  It's about an hour on the train to get to the end of the line.  BRING YOUR ORCA CARD!

The ride starts with a lovely descent on a bike trail to the waterfront in Des Moines.  From there we will proceed mostly parallel to the water, up and down some challenging hills, with a coffee stop at Bakery Nouveau in Burien.  Once we get to Lincoln Park in West Seattle, the hills are pretty much behind us and we can cruise around Alki, along Alaskan Way and the waterfront park and back to the UW via the Ship Canal and Burke Gilman trails.  We can make another stop for refreshments later in the ride, depending on group interest.  Note that although the total elevation is only 2000', the first 20 miles are hard.  We'll take our own paces on the hills and regroup at the tops.  If you haven't been riding much yet this season, this might not be the ride for you.  If you have any questions about the difficulty, send me an email.

Participants are expected to be self-supporting with spare tubes, pump, water, snacks, and capable of fixing their own flats.  Helmets are required on COGS rides.  Use of flashers, visual enhancers and rearview mirrors is encouraged.  Weather conditions can and will change, be prepared. In addition, please also bring safe riding skills and good road manners.

Rain, snow or ice will cancel.  I will send out a cancellation notice by 7:30 on the morning of the ride.

COGS rides are now open to both members and non-members. Non-members are limited to one “free” ride with the club, after which COGS’ insurance requires they become a member. All persons must register. The number of persons allowed on a ride is left to the discretion of the ride leader.

NOTE: COGS Rides are limited to members and one time guest non-members. You must register to be permitted to ride. According to the club insurance policy, If you are not a COGS member then you can register and participate in one ride.
