    Greetings fellow riders,

As COVID-19 is still with us, all sanctioned COGS rides through August are being cancelled.   We will continue to cancel rides and events until the persistence of this virus subsides and state guidelines give a green light for group activities.  Some clubs such as Cascade are offering group rides, however guidelines set up for conducting these rides are a bit onerous and not something the COGS’ board felt many ride leaders would want to undertake.

That said, club members on their own initiative are free to contact others via google groups to put together their own rides.  Gus, Wayne and others have started a virtual ride series which individuals do at their own time and pace.  This has been great for highlighting new routes around town.  Wayne will be starting a “Unofficial Ad Hoc” series for small-group socially-distanced rides.  A ride announcement template has been included below for those who would like to do the same.   Fill in the information needed in the [blocks] and post via COGS google groups.

Please note, to control group size, details on meet up location are not to be included in the announcement.  Participants are to contact the ride leader for this information.

    Be well,

    Richard Petters

Template for Unofficial Ad Hoc rides…

    Hi All,

I am planning on riding to [DESTINATION] on[DEPARTURE DAY for a MORNING OR AFTERNOON RIDE, DISTANCE, PACE, ETC.]. This is not an official COGS ride, but I wanted to reach out to my COGS friends to see if anyone wants to join me. Because of COVID-19, I'll be limiting this ride to a maximum of 5 other folks. If you are interested in joining me for this ride, reply back to me directly, please do not do a group reply, and we will work out details for time and place of departure.

    Thanks,

    [RIDE ORGANIZER]
